"Dead Poets Society"

Dead Poets Society was on television. The stars in the movie are Robin Williams Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles.

Robin Williams plays the role of a literature teacher in a premiere prep school during the 1950s in Dead Poets Society. The teacher inspires his students to achieve new heights of personal courage and intellectual expansion which ultimately leads to the suicide of a promising student and his subsequent dismissal for “causing” the suicide.

The Educational bureaucracy, stifling parental control, the angst of growing up, the drive to experience new things, and the loyalty are all themes analyzed in this Peter Weir cinematic masterpiece.

The stars Robin Williams accompaniments and exhibits all his spian skills while Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Alexandra Powers count their blessings for being involved in such a great film. Norman Lloyd plays the perfect headmaster, and Kurtwood Smith is a controlling father. Laura Flynn Boyle makes a brief appearance which is hardly seen in the original release, but is given the light of day in the extended scenes shown on its network debut.

Jersey Devil And Its Origin

There are many origins of "Jersey Devil" legend. There are many legends in the earlier dates like the Native American folklore. The Lenni Lenape tribes were calling the area around Pine Barrens "Popuessing," meaning "place of the dragon." Swedish explorers later named it "Drake Kill", "drake" being a Swedish word for dragon, and "kill" meaning channel or arm of the sea, river, stream, etc.

The most accepted origin of the story as far as New Jersians are concerned started with Mother Leeds and is as follows:

"It was said that Mother Leeds had 12 children and after given birth to her 12th child, she said if she had another, it would be the devil. In 1735, Mother Leeds was in labor on a stormy night. Gathered around her were her friends. Mother Leeds was supposedly a witch and the child's father was the devil himself. The child was born normal, but then changed form. It changed from a normal baby to a creature with hooves, a horses head, bat wings and a forked tail. It growled and screamed, then killed the midwife before flying up the chimney. It circled the villages and headed toward the pines. In 1740 a clergy exorcised the devil for 100 years and it wasn't seen again until 1890."

"Mother Leeds" has been identified by some as Deborah Leeds, who was the wife of Japhet Leeds. This identification may have gained credence from the fact that Japhet Leeds named twelve children in the will he wrote in 1736, which is compatible with the legend of the Jersey Devil being the thirteenth child born by Mother Leeds.

Some skeptics believe the Jersey Devil to be nothing more than a creative manifestation of the English settlers. The aptly named Pine Barrens were shunned by most early settlers as a desolate, threatening place. Being relatively isolated, the barrens were a natural refuge for those wanting to remain hidden, including religious dissenters, loyalists, fugitives and military deserters in colonial times. Such individuals formed solitary groups and were pejoratively called "pineys", some of whom became notorious bandits known as "pine robbers". Pineys were further demonized after two early twentieth century eugenics studies depicted them as congenital idiots and criminals. It is easy to imagine early tales of terrible monsters arising from a combination of sightings of genuine animals such as bears, the activities of pineys, and fear of the barrens.

Outdoorsman and author Tom Brown Jr spent several seasons living in the wilderness of the Pine Barrens. He recounts occasions when terrified hikers mistook him for the Jersey Devil, after he covered his whole body with mud to repel mosquitoes.

Not surprisingly, the Jersey Devil legend is fueled by the various testimonials from reputable eyewitnesses who have reported to have encountered the creature, from precolonial times to the present day, as there are still reported sightings within the New Jersey area.

Many contemporary theorists believe that the Jersey Devil could possibly be a very rare, unclassified species which instinctually fears and attempts to avoid humans. Such elements that support this theory include the overall similarities of the creature's appearance (horselike head, long neck and tail, leathery wings, cloven hooves, blood-curdling scream), with the only variables being the height and color. Another factor that supports the cryptozoological theory is the fact that it is more likely that a species could endure over a span of several hundred years, rather than the existence of a single creature living for over 500 years.

Sean Penn - The Best Actor

Sean Penn has won the best-actor Academy Award for the second time with his win in the title role of "Milk."

Penn's first words upon taking the stage to accept his prize for playing the slain gay-rights pioneer were: "You commie, homo-loving sons of guns."

He has portrayed a slain San Francisco gay rights activist Harvey Milk in the movie Milk. Penn is now 48years old and has received his second Oscar of his career, the first being his 2004 win for his lead role as a grieving father in Mystic River.

"I did not expect this and I wanted to be very clear that I know how hard I make it to appreciate me," Penn said when he accepted the award.

Several critics called the performance the best of Penn's already storied and adaptable career, which took off after his breakthrough surfer-stoner role as Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Michael Douglas, who has been married to Catherine Zeta-Jones since 2000 and is the top couples of Hollywood, tells HollyScoop.com that, "I think being kind to each other (is the key). A lot of times we are nicer to strangers than the people that are close to us."

"Michael and Catherine looked very proud. She was snapping photos of the children and he was clapping," said an eyewitness. "Everyone knew they were in the restaurant and the belly dancer made it a point to ask the children to come up and learn a few moves. The kids are born actors and they really loved the attention."

Sean Penn Inspired By "Milk"

Sean Penn overpoweringly spoke about the importance of "Milk" and passed a message onstage and continued his heartfelt thanks from the press room.

He also spoke about Obama's need to examine his official deportment on gay marriage, since the change will come, and says he hopes that the president's current stance is not a "felt one." He also spoke a bit about what it meant to take part in the project, and about his fellow nominee Mickey Rourke.

"I’ve known Mickey for over 25 years and I can't speak for [his consistency] since he's an excellent bridge burner at times, but we've had for the most part friendship. I’ve looked up to, advised, wanted to work with, admired him. He had me weeping through The Wrestler. He’s one of our most talented actors. One of the great poetic talents in acting."

About the movie he said "It means a lot to myself and everyone involved not only in the movie, but anybody who believes in equal rights for human beings. It’s really simple . . . There’s nothing more important than the themes that are in this movie. To be part of something like that is a privilege."

Dustin Lance Black - "Milk"

Dustin Lance Black the screen writer won the Oscar Awards for "Milk" in the category of Best Screenplay, the movie was a story of California’s first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk.

Dustin Black said that he was very inspired by "Milk": He said "Oh my God. This was, um, this was not an easy film to make. First off, I have to thank Cleve Jones and Anne Kronenberg and all the real-life people who shared their stories with me. And, um, Gus Van Sant, Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch, Josh Brolin, James Franco and our entire cast, my producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen, everyone at Groundswell and Focus for taking on the challenge of telling this life-saving story. When I was 13 years old, my beautiful mother and my father moved me from a conservative Mormon home in San Antonio, Texas to California, and I heard the story of Harvey Milk. And it gave me hope. It gave me the hope to live my life. It gave me the hope one day I could live my life openly as who I am and then maybe even I could even fall in love and one day get married."

He gave a pause and the audience began to applaud. Then he continued by saying

"I want to thank my mom who has always loved me for who I am, even when there was pressure not to. But most of all, if Harvey had not been taken from us 30 years ago, I think he’d want me to say to all of the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told that they are less than by their churches or by the government or by their families that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value and that no matter what anyone tells you, God does love you and that very soon, I promise you, you will have equal rights, federally, across this great nation of ours. Thank you, thank you, and thank you God for giving us Harvey Milk."

It was the most incredible acceptance speech after being awarded Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards.

But Redding became not reachable to her friends for some days and they became worried about her and called her mother in Redding’s hometown of Tucson, Arizona. When she was not found even in her home town, her mother called the Santa Monica police.

Police searched for her and found Redding dead inside her apartment. “The manner of death is homicide,” said Sgt. Rinaldi Thruston of the Santa Monica Police Department.
This is an unfortunate incident which has lot of controversy and much rumors about the murder, it will be interesting to see if the killer is brought to justice.

There are many unverified information that the cause of death was blunt force trauma, but it is denied by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. “Those media reports are not accurate. The cause of death was not blunt force trauma. The file has been sealed by police, so we cannot disclose the actual cause of death.”

Police also would not disclose whether a weapon was used or whether Redding’s apartment had been broken into, which would give clues as to whether she knew her assailant and opened the door for him or her. Thruston also refused to say whether Redding had been sexually assaulted.

"I Hope You Dance" In American Idol

The American Idol contestants are choosing to sing Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope you Dance”. They all did pretty decent job, they all light in comparison to the real song.

“I Hope You Dance” is a popular album from Lee Ann Womack, released on MCA Nashville Records in 2000.It was at #1 on both the Country and Adult
Lyrics I Hope You Dance

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..
