Uncle Vanya is the most intimate of the Chekhov plays so far. This character is the study of great power and fragility. This play is referred to the philosophical play which has the theme of “superfluous man” or the “wasted life.”

But the spirit of the play Uncle Vanya, is that it is passionate, banal, stubborn, miserable people reaching out, drinking, whispering to one another in the dark, coping with the vagaries and indignities of their feral loneliness, thrashing against their limitations and always coming up short.
