Russell Brand Leads In 2009

Russell Brand made his mark as a comedian in England before climbing up the ladder and landing roles in films.

The American audiences knew him as the distant rock star Aldous Snow in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and as the host of the 2008 MTV Music Awards. This Sunday, America got the first sight of Brand as a stand-up comedian, when his first one-hour special, Russell Brand in New York City, premiered at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.

Russell brand is releasing his autobiography, My Booky Wook, which hits the shelves next week, and he is also working on Get Him to the Greek, a new Judd Apatow-produced vehicle for the Aldous Snow character and a remake of Arthur. He has already received the Julie Taymor-directed film of The Tempest which also has Helen Mirren as his co star playing "Prospera," and is waiting for release.
